cell phone charger

O, the implications

Walked into a mega-mart and got me a car cell phone charger,  a seemingly insignificant act repeated thousands of times every day.  The charger was manufactured in China.  By buying the charger, was I giving tacit approval to the Chinese government that killed the protesters in Tiananmen Square in the 90s?  The device came in plastic packaging, which I then discarded, so I was clearly adding to the waste stream.  The device will eventually stop functioning, and it too will be thrown away, adding more trash to the waste stream.  If I had chosen not to buy the charger, would that have contributed to the layoff of a staffer whose restocking services would not be needed?  The implications were many.  Then I plugged the durn thing in and starting charging the phone.
